Science: Tomorrow you'll be taking your Science Exam in class. Know the A&P of the Fetal Pig. It's just like the frog.
  • What are the organs
  • What are the functions
  • How do they work together

Science: We started to talk about the organ systems today in class. I am pulling the information from this textbook which is similar to our own.

I also gave a skeletal system worksheet for homework. Work on it and turn it in on Monday.

Science: We will continue our projects in class tomorrow. Please remember that everyone needs to be working  - not a select few.
  • 2 posters are required
    • one on the era you had been selected for
    • one on a once (or current) living organism from that era

The Archdiocesan STEM Expo 2017 is only a few days away! It’s going to be amazing to have all of those STEM projects displayed in one place! It will certainly be an opportunity to showcase our students and schools, and the outstanding work you have done over the past few months:

  • The Archdiocesan Youth Retreat Center 499 Belgrove Dr, Kearny, NJ 07032
  • Students should arrive to the Youth Center on Saturday between 8:00 - 9:45 a.m., before doors are opened to the public. I suggest 8:45/9:00 a.m.
  • Displays at the STEM Expo are to include: the product or prototype; the trifold display board showing Problem/Solution/Process; the trifold brochure; and the group’s Engineering Notebook.
  • You only need to have about 15-20 color brochures for each project. Students can invite people to browse through the brochure and politely request that they return it to the table.
  • Each project will be assigned a space. Our layout has two projects sharing an 8 ft. long or 6 ft. round table. We have assigned locations strategically, based on requests for extra table space and floor space. However, space is tight so whatever you and your students can do to minimize the space occupied by the project would be very helpful.
  • We have made every effort to situate projects based on the information provided on the Project Description form regarding need for electricity and/or water access. There is a water bottle filling station in the Gym and we will have access to the kitchen at the back of the Gym to get water for projects.
  • Teams whose project includes a video or website should bring a laptop with a fully charged battery.
  • We have prepared a sign with the SDG icon, project and school name for each project. These will be affixed to the table where the project is to be located. The sign will also display a unique project number based on the SDG and included in the project listing that will be distributed at the STEM Expo. The project number will also be used to identify projects on the floor plan diagram.
  • Presentations will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • All projects must be disassembled and removed from the Youth Center Gym at the conclusion of the STEM Expo. Please determine, prior to Saturday, who is going to be responsible for taking the project at the end of the day.
  • Students must wear their school uniform.
  • Students attending the STEM Expo for the whole day should pack a lunch and beverage.
  • Tom Conboy, the director of the Youth Retreat Center, has graciously offered to have water, iced tea, and cookies available throughout the day.

If there is anything I have forgotten to mention or something you are not sure about please let me know.

Looking forward to seeing you on SATURDAY!!!

Mr. James Falletti
